I need a new website… How does this work?

The first thing you’ll do is tell us how you want your site to look. If you’re not sure, we’ll take your message and begin designing around it. You’ll also inform us on the features needed on your site. There are literally hundreds of amazing features that will easily set your business apart from the competition. Options include mapping, image rotators, calendars, contact forms, newsletters, feeds, social media plug-ins, and the list goes on and on.

What is WordPress?

What is the difference between plug-ins and widgets?

Plug-ins are functions that do something to your website. A plug-in can serve a back-end purpose and never be visible to you or the public. A widget allows you to easily add design elements to your website by dragging and dropping the element you want.

What widgets and plug-ins are available to me?

If there’s a widget or plugin out there that works correctly and you want it, we’ll put it on the site.

Can I login and change information on my site?

Yes. You’ll be able to login and change information anytime you want. You can even create users and give them specific permissions and have them log in using their own password and make changes to what they have access to.

What do I have control over on my site? What are things I can change?

You’ll have control over all the content on your site. You’ll be able to create pages and change or update information. You’ll be able to add widgets to your pages and take them off too.

Can I have a forum on my website?

Yes. An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site. It can be implemented within any website built by us. The forum originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content.

I don’t have a domain name and I want SparkLogix hosting.

You will need to purchase a domain name from a company of your choice. Once the domain name is purchased, we can set up hosting. We will take care of everything from that point to make this an easy, no-hassle experience for you.

I have a domain name, now I need hosting. What do I do?

You don’t need to do a thing. If you don’t currently have hosting for that domain elsewhere, we’ll handle it all. If you do have hosting, please see the next option below.

I already have a website, hosting and a domain. I want to switch to SparkLogix hosting but don’t want to lose any of my information.

This is an easy process. SparkLogix will create a new hosting account for you and transfer your current website files via FTP. To do that we will need your current FTP login information (host name, login name and password). We will also need access to your current hosting account to switch the nameservers (necessary to show your domain it needs to be pointed to a different host). The propagation of the DNS nameservers can take up to 48 hours and there may be intermittent down time on your current site, though it will be very minimal. Once the site has been successfully transferred, we will let you know when it is safe to cancel your old hosting service. It is important not to mention to your old host that you intend on switching, because it is possible they may cut you off prematurely, causing loss of your data before we can get it transferred.

If your current site is run on Wordpress, we will need access to your Wordpress account to back up the necessary databases to prevent data loss.
